Aftercare
Congrats, you got a new tattoo! With a new tattoo comes specific aftercare instructions to ensure it heals the best it can. Here are some things you are going to need to take care of your tattoo:
Dial Gold Antibacterial Liquid Hand Soap (Unscented)
Aquaphor Healing Ointment
Triple Antibiotic Cream (in certain cases)
Swimming pools
Hot tubs
Saunas and sweat lodges
Bath - KEEP TO SHOWERS ONLY
Lakes, Rivers, Ocean
Excessive exercise where you sweat profusely
Pet hair and dander if you can
Direct sunlight and/or tanning
After your tattoo your artist may have covered your fresh tattoo with a paper towel or plastic wrap. We recommend you leave the coverage on for 1 to 1½ Hours . Gently remove your covering- DO NOT RIP OFF VIGOROUSLY!
After you remove your covering, wash your hands thoroughly before washing your tattoo under warm water and use Dial Gold Antibacterial Hand Soap. DON NOT SCRUB! Small, gentle circles will do the trick. After you finish cleaning your tattoo, pat dry with a clean paper towel -DO NOT WIPE! Dont use fabric towels as they can transfer lint to your tattoo. If paper towels are not aveable, let your tattoo air dry for about 10 minutes or untell completley dry. Apply a thin coat of Aquaphore to your tattoo when it is dry. Keep coating thin, using to much ointment can cause your tattoo to suffocate and possibly cause infection.
Getting a new tattoo means you will need to skip a couple things for at least a couple weeks.
Here are things to avoid for at least 2 weeks as your tattoo heals.
Failure to follow aftercare instructions can lead to many issues including scarring, ink fading, and infection. If you do not follow your artists aftercare instructions and the tattoo does not heal properly, you may be charged for further touch-up(s) to fix your tattoo.
